Hi, I’m Ali. Thank you for stumbling upon my little corner of the internet I’m calling my blog, where I share life’s challenges with a touch of sarcasm. Join me on my journey through motherhood as I confront past traumas, adjust to stay at home mom life, and daily parenting struggles. All while I attempt to advocate for literacy, raise awareness for congenital heart disease, and look forward to what the future holds with the humor necessary to navigate this wild ride called life.

Why Heart Bound Mama?

My journey as a Heart Mama started in 2016 when my daughter Zoey was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. At that time I knew very little about congenital heart defects and was not at all prepared for the path I was to take after her diagnosis. Her time on Earth was short lived when she passed away at 36 days old but my journey continued. I honored her memory by raising awareness for CHD and HLHS by doing a small fundraiser in February each year to donate to the hospital where she lived her short life and received so much love and care. Even though she has been gone I still considered myself a Heart Mama just to a Heart Angel.

Never did I expect that my son born in 2023 would have the same rare heart defect as his sister keeping me on my heart mama journey. While he is exceeding all expectations for his condition I continue to share knowledge and advocate for CHD because I was bound to be a Heart Mama.
